The Moccasin Slipper is a modern interpretation of a classic house shoe, designed with simplicity, comfort, and timeless appeal in mind.

The low-profile silhouette features a softly rounded toe and traditional moccasin detailing, creating a relaxed yet considered look. Subtle shaping allows the slipper to fit naturally on the foot, balancing comfort with a refined, understated finish.

This design draws on traditional moccasin construction while there are many opportunities for personalisation (see inspiration below) including an alternate Mule style which is in the PDF patterns. It can be made in a range of materials, like leather, suede, nubuck, sheepskin and faux leather allowing the final look to be tailored to your style, climate, and everyday wear.

Sizing

You will receive the PDF patterns for UK sizes 3 - 12

Along with a printable size chart to help you choose which size pattern to cut out.

Materials Needed

Upper - 1 - 2mm thick - Leather, Suede, Nubuck, Sheepskin, Faux Leather

Midsole - 1 - 2mm thick- Leather, Suede, Nubuck, Faux Leather

Outsole - 2 - 4mm thick - Leather, EVA sheet,

  • Upper - Approx 3 - 4 sq ft depending on size.
  • Midsole - Approx 2 sq ft
  • Outsole - Approx 2 sq ft

We suggest using a sheepskin shearling for your upper, an old sheepskin jacket is a good option for up-cycling.

For your midsole and outsole a perfect up-cycled could be an old leather handbag or jacket.

Tools needed

  • Pen
  • Awl
  • Leather hole Punch 1 - 1.5mm
  • 15m Braided polyester thread - waxed thread 0.6 - 1 mm, like Ritza 25 tiger thread.
  • Leather needle diamond point
  • Embroidery needle round point
  •  Neoprene based Contact Adhesive Approx 90g & Spatula or brush **
  • A bottle cork or Layered cardboard*
  • Double sided carpet tape **
  • Fabric scissors
  • Craft knife - we recommend swann morton
  • Cutting Mat
  • Cardboard 2 x A3
  • Glue Stick
  • Hammer
  • Pattern Weights (optional)
  • Face Mask (optional)

* this is to poke into with your awl when enlarging holes.

** If you choose to add an outsole to your slipper you will need the contact adhesive but not carpet tape and if you choose not to add the outsole you will need carpet tape but not the contact adhesive.

How to print your pattern:

You have two options for printing out your pattern.

1. You can get it printed in A2 at a printing shop or sewing pattern company. Search for "sewing pattern printing company" to find a company that does this in your region.

2. Or you can print it yourself on a home printer in A4 or US Letter format and then tile the pages together using tape.
